That way you can wrench on it easily, and often. British engineering at its most self-aware.

Two latches and two bolts and you’re down to the frame

You could say that is a Triumph of British Engineering.

Except engine accessories on the front of the engine.
IMHO, FR cars are the way to go for DIY maintenance. I drove a Crossfire from 90,000 to 205,000 miles, it broke a lot but was easy to work on.

Rear engine air cooled cars are pretty easy. Solo I went from running car to engine, trans, and diff separate and sitting on my workbench in an hour and a half. And that was only the second time I had the engine out of my Corvair. The first time took an hour and a half to have it just dropped without instructions. There’s something to be said about not having to disconnect any hoses outside of a single fuel line.

Just a reminder these live in my garage. Both run and get driven whenever weather permits.

I was always thinking the Z could have done that, it does have a forward tilti ng hood and an I6 though.

I didn’t know you had the Triumph. Definitely one of my faves of the Briti sh roadsters. Lovely shade of green as well.

Decided to give both of them a run today with the nice warmup after polar vortex misery this week. Jaguar got a new battery last time I had it out about 3 weeks ago and started with just a little coaxing. I’m afraid the TR6 battery is toast as it’s been sitting completely flat. Outside. In winter. Since October. It started without too much trouble once I got my heavier jumper cables out. But it would only run as long as the jumper was on Battery was still completely flat after running almost an hour.
Also no jokes about using one British car to jump another. It worked fine and nothing caught fire:
